AGAIN. Sex Death and Other Altered States is a permanent earthwork installation presented by the Lyceum at Silo City in Buffalo. This public work is a reincarnation of McCarty's 2019 project Into the Weeds, which featured large-scale pen drawings at UB Art Galleries and a living earthwork garden of poisonous plants in Silo City. For AGAIN, McCarty revisits her investigation into into the ecocultural history of medicinal plants, and the role they play in issues of reproductive health, personal autonomy, and biological reclamation. Rue, tansy, prairie sage, yarrow, wormwood and pleurisy root are among the herbs featured once more in McCarty’s earthwork, famed for their twofold curative and toxic properties.
